Detail

The bumper sticker reads

And as I shake my head

The driver spins away.

I guess he’s in a hurry, skimming over details

Me I want to shake it up

I want to live the ride

I want to suck it in.

Here at this intersection

Every decision, is fraught with its consequence

Loving the detail

Spun off the de-rail

Here in the depth of life

Jesus is coming

But my life has just begun

Revel the detail

“I love you Mum and I’m having fun!”

I guess it’s only rapture, rapture in the stupor

Youth has such a pretty face

And even where the smile is empty.

Time will see to that. (Take that!)

5 am and the clock ain’t ticking

The juice has gotten awful thick

and the lip’s not stickin’

One hell of a night!

Jesus just hold it there!

I’m lovin’ the detail

Even if it’s an ‘only’ thing!
